What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
California Agricultural Safety Certificate Program
This 18-hour training program provides individuals new to agricultural safety a broad-based education in the essential issues of this field. The program will assist employers in improving workplace health and safety, reduce the high costs associated with workplace injuries and illnesses and comply with federal and state regulatory requirements.
The program consists of four courses, a fifth session that includes a cumulative roundtable discussion of the information learned and three-hours of elective safety education.
Sexual Harassment Prevention
This workshop meets the requirements of AB-1825 and AB-2053, which requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide two hours of training to all supervisory employees once every two years. Topics include: Information and practical guidance regarding federal and state regulations, prohibition, prevention, correction and remedies of sexual harassment and abusive conduct in employment, identifying different kinds of sexual harassment, how supervisors should respond in a variety of situations involving sexual harassment and abusive conduct, discuss the requirements of an anti-sexual harassment and abusive conduct policy.
Pesticide Handler Instructor of Trainers
This course, which is required by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, is designed specifically for pesticide handlers and fieldworker training. This seminar will cover topics including pesticide exposure, signs and symptoms of illness, emergency medical care, proper use of personal protective equipment, safe handling and transportation of pesticides and laws and regulations regarding labels and safety data sheets. In addition, participants will learn effective training techniques. Once participants have successfully completed this training, they will be able to submit an application to the state to issue blue WPS cards.
Heat Illness Prevention
In this workshop we will investigate the fundamentals of a successful heat illness prevention plan, practices which lead to behavior change and application, and take a look at success stories from within the industry. It will also cover proposed changes to the heat standard including mandatory breaks for employees and the implications to wage and hour laws.
Supervisor Advancement Seminar
In many industries, Spanish speakers get promoted to a supervisory position because they are loyal and reliable employees, they know operations, and they can communicate in English. However, managing people is very complicated and difficult, and requires very different abilities. These supervisors very rarely receive any training around communication, team building or leadership skills. Fortunately, this can be addressed! This training series will cover some of the specific challenges that Spanish speakers face as supervisors and will provide proven strategies to mitigate these tendencies and build teams that are happy, productive, and successful. Topics include: An overview of cultural differences and how they manifest in the workplace, a bilingual supervisor's role in establishing and maintaining a safe environment, and how to get positive results when giving negative feedback.
