HAPPY TAILS PET SANCTUARY

Helping Those Who Cannot Help Themselves

Sacramento, CA   |  http://www.happytails.org/

Mission

Happy Tails was founded in 1993 by volunteers committed to helping homeless and abused animals that have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves. We operate a No Kill, cage-less adoption center for cats in the Sacramento, CA metropolitan area. We also have dogs in foster care homes until adoption. Happy Tails has a major program to rescue animals from the death-rows of local animal control facilities. They work closely with both the Sacramento City and Sacramento County shelters, and Sacramento SPCA.

Notes from the nonprofit

FY 2014 reflected an unprecedented level of one time bequests and donations.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Smokey's Fund

Our "Smokey's Fund" was established to handle donations dedicated to providing deserving persons with an animal and/or help with its health and day-to-day living, day-to-day expenses. Many recipients are elderly or homeless who are living on a fixed income, or are receiving little or no public assistance. We work closely and actively with other organizations to make the Sacramento area a no-kill community in the foreseeable future.
