CDA Cares

CDA Cares is a two-day clinic sponsored by the CDA Foundation. Clinics are held in various locations throughout the state and provide dental services and oral health education at no charge to Californians who experience barriers to care. The main goal of CDA Cares is to improve individuals’ overall health by relieving dental pain and eliminating infection. CDA Cares offers X-rays, fillings, extractions, cleanings, root canals on front teeth, stayplates (temporary partial dentures) and dentures, oral health education and resources for finding a local source of ongoing dental care. In partnership with the California Dental Association (CDA), these events provide the public, media, local and state elected officials and other policymakers the opportunity to become better educated about the importance of oral health care and the issues associated with state and local policies and funding.

Population(s) Served
Adults

The CDA Foundation awards grants to select recent dental school/specialty graduates. These grants facilitate career choices by repaying their educational loan of up to $35,000 per year for a maximum of $105,000 over three years in exchange for a commitment by recipients to care for the underserved. Often, it’s the difference that makes the impossible possible.

Additionally, the Webb Family Grant provides the grant runner-up with an award of up to $5,000 towards education expenses.

Program goals are designed to immediately reduce barriers to access oral health care services in targeted underserved communities and populations as well as establish an ongoing mechanism to provide dental professionals an opportunity to reduce their financial burden while working in these communities.

Adults

The Dental Materials and Supplies Grant is a unique program that works in partnership with Henry Schein Cares, epitomizing the combined commitment to give back to the industry and communities in which we serve. Nonprofit organizations have been recipients of the award and received dental supplies that helped allow them to provide dental care for underserved people in their communities.
