Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Wild Skills
Wild Skills programs are for girls (transgender and cis-gender) and non-binary individuals aged 6-12 and 13-17 to learn outdoor adventure skills: Leave No Trace, the 10 Essentials, first aid, shelter-building, and navigation. In addition to these skills, Wild Skills offers Junior Ski Patrol and Junior Wildland Firefighter events in an effort to provide career-building skills and access to positive mentorship. Scholarships are provided to these camps and we work with organizations to offer these experiences to historically excluded communities including immigrant and refugee populations.
Education
SheJumps education programs create supportive and encouraging environments for women+* to learn outdoor skills that help them build confidence, leadership and become more self-sufficient in the outdoors. This is our way of establishing and sharing our mission. All Initiatives facilitate educational opportunities that cater to the specific needs of each community.
*Women+ = transgender, gender queer, & cisgender. We welcome non-binary individuals to participate in our programs as well.
Get the Girls Out!
Our 'Get the Girls Out' program focuses on connecting girls and women in our communities with inspiring and dedicated female outdoor enthusiasts. This campaign is typically centered around International Women's Day.
*Women+ = transgender, gender queer, & cisgender. We welcome non-binary individuals to participate in our programs as well.
Alpine School
The SheJumps Alpine School is comprised of Alpine Development courses and an Alpine Finishing School designed to offer a complete education series focused on ski and splitboard mountaineering.
Snowpack Scholarship
The Snowpack Scholarship affordable opportunities for adult women to gain experience and education in snowsports and avalanche safety with an overall goal to increase participation in winter sports and build stronger communities where all women can belong.
Our vision is to generate equitable opportunities to enjoy outdoor sports in supportive learning environment where community and connection are prioritized through women-led and attended courses and low-cost programming.
Wilderness First Aid Scholarship
A core element to the SheJumps mission is to pursue play without compromising safety. For those who play and work in the outdoors, a base knowledge of remote medical skills is essential to feel confident and self-sufficient on an adventure. Wilderness First Aid training (WFA) training not only educates around life-saving skills, but its intensive training that cultivates connection and community.
The SheJumps Wilderness First Aid Scholarship program aims to reach a specific population who has been historically excluded from outdoor activities due to institutional, systemic, and cultural discrimination.
Fundraising Climbs
SheJumps Fundraising Climbs offer opportunities for supporters to climb big mountains while raising awareness and critical funding for our mission. The technical, physical, and emotional challenges of climbing these mountains are an incredible way to experience the SheJumps mission first-hand.
We consciously foster a positive energy that exudes encouragement in stride with the technical, physical and emotional challenge at hand. Our all female guides and staff offer support and expertise throughout the training, fundraising and of course, the climb.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
