Mission

Mission Statement
AIR's mission is to provide the Richardson community with an affordable facility and resources for nurturing artists
and innovative thinkers; and igniting a spirit of creativity that permeates our entire community.

Vision
Once a community has been exposed to this artistic synergy, the good that can be wrought is beyond measure.
It infuses every fiber of our lives with creativity and ardor—our schools, our businesses, our charities, our homes…our hearts.

AIR, a 501(c)(3), is a center and network for creativity, innovation and collaboration. Arts groups, individual artists and corporations use AIR as a center for inspiration—whether teaching, rehearsing, exhibiting or problem solving with a creative twist. AIR's practical side offers space for rehearsals, classes and conducting business. Simply by virtue of being housed in a single space, collaboration will be a focus as the center's users rehearse, perform, create, exhibit, meet and hold workshops and classes. Artists who are part of the AIR network but are based throughout the City receive the same benefits as those housed in the primary center.

Immediate Goals:
• Secure operating funds to: 1) hire an architect or consultant for renovation and/or building needs; and 2) to support a capital fundraising campaign.
• Secure a space—donated, purchased or partnered. As of January 2015, AIR entered into a partnership with the City of Richardson to find a space. Both the City and AIR are doing their due diligence to determine the appropriate type facility for Richardson, as well as defining the exact nature of the partnership.
Provide lease rates palatable to aspiring artists and arts groups through an incentive program partnering with the City, property owners, developers, and lessees. Appeal to city leaders, corporate residents and those who are considering moving their companies to Richardson.
• Utilize committees to help with the load as AIR grows.
• Expand AIR Time, SEED, and other programming to increase community presence and branding.

Long-term Goals:
• Generate an income stream from leases, ticket sales, gift shop revenue, and multi-purpose space rental.
• Develop programming that weaves together students and residents, as well as business and artistic communities.
• Be a vibrant destination for visitors and residents.
• Capture the hearts and minds of Richardson residents.

Notes from the nonprofit

AIR is actively engaged in a partnership with the City of Richardson, Texas to find a space for artists and creatives in the area. While the search for a building is ongoing, we continue to provide enriching programming for the creative community in the area which provides quality events and increased awareness of the creativity for the general public. AIR also strives to offer programs that are engaging as well as educational. We have received funding from the City of Richardson Cultural Arts Commission for three years and participate in the North Texas Giving Day for nonprofits which is sponsored by the Communities Foundation of Texas. A boost in funding would allow us to continue to grow in the planned manner we have set forth as well as plant the seeds for an endowment to secure the future. Everything we do is with the ultimate goal of providing opportunities for artists and creatives and once a space is secured, having that space available to individuals and organizations at a rate that is as reasonable as possible (hopefully, at or below market value). AIR is compelled to support the creatives as we know they are the cogs that drive the quality of life in our City.

AIR Time

An artist interview series held at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema/DFW - 100 South Central Expressway, #14 • Richardson, TX 75080 - alamodrafthouse.com/dfw/richardson
Interview: 7:00-7:45pm – Movie begins promptly at 7:45pm • Admission: Free but reservations recommended ($5 online through Alamo’s reservation system which gets you a $5 voucher for food and beverage). Reservations can usually be made 2 weeks prior to the event.
Season 7 of AIR Time features another stellar group of guest artists. And, because all AIR Time presentations are held at Alamo Drafthouse/DFW, guests are invited to stay after AIR Time, buy dinner and watch a movie that is somehow related to the guest artist for the evening. How fun and experiential is that? Previous AIR Time podcasts are available on iTunes.
The focus for AIR Time is to celebrate and recognize local artists/creatives creating greater community awareness of the impact they have on our lives as well as their value to quality of life. Typically, AIR produces 6 AIR Time events a season.
