What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Direct Services
Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, a 42-bed emergency shelter (housing an average of 550 women and children each year), counseling (phone, office, support group), emergency financial & transportation assistance, children's services, and referrals. Services for the program's 7-parish service area are offered from the main office in Baton Rouge and through outreach services in surrounding parishes.
Legal Component
CAFVIC provides regular court advocacy at the Baton Rouge City Court for victims of domestic violence crimes. CAFVIC provides legal representation to women in East Baton Rouge Family Court as well. In Pointe Coupee, Iberville, and Ascension parishes, CAFVIC provides representation in protective order proceedings, as well as court advocacy.
Education and Training Component
Education and Training component provides information about domestic violence to interested schools, churches and community groups. Training is also available to professionals whose jobs bring them into contact with battered women and/or their abusers. The Education and Training component develops and implements training for volunteers and new staff members four times each year, and provides ongoing support and continuing education for volunteers and staff.
