Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
RESOURCES AND ADVOCACY
Strengthen the position and awareness of Catholic Charities to influence community outcomes.
Develop funding structures to support future operational costs.
OPERATIONS
Assess means by which we have consistent self-evaluation and review.
Develop agency-wide processes and build intentional communication and transparency into all areas of operations.
Utilize technology to streamline services and integrate department processes.
LEADERSHIP
Intentionally incorporate diverse insights upon a firm Catholic foundation.
Build and clarify the governing role of the Board of Directors.
Expand the volunteer base to enhance programs and services and inform, educate and involve the communities served.
Create and sustain an agency professional development plan/process to enhance staffs ability to better serve.
MISSION AND PROGRAMS
Refine current program services to transformatively address community needs.
Create systematic processes for more efficient services.
Address Sanctuary program facility needs.
Expand into affordable housing as opportunities arise.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We will:
1. Provide help and hope to all through the Catholic tradition of service.
2. Draw from and share the Churchs Catholic Social Teaching in all areas of engagement.
3. Faithfully and diligently provide care to those who help others.
4. Invite all to the table to inform, educate and improve operational and mission outcomes.
5. Learn to identify what we are not communicating to our team.
6. Be intentional to achieve what is necessary for transformational outcomes.
7. Manage growth. We will not let uncontrolled growth manage the organization.
8. Prioritize disaster recovery during times of crisis. Disaster services will take priority for as long as needed. We will identify the stress points and provide assistance to staff and individual programs with coping skills.
9. Collaborate with others and strengthen our partner relationships. Collaborating partner agencies are essential for transformational wrap-around services.
We wont:
1. Do things when others do them better.
2. Compete when collaboration is better.
3. Silo operations throughout Catholic Charities.
4. Grow for the sake of growth or jeopardize our quality.
5. Jeopardize financial stability.
6. Allow crisis management to be the norm.
7. Demand from our staff without the resources to meet expectations.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Catholic Charities maintains a strong strategic plan that is constantly reviewed and referred to when directing agency resources.
One of the main tenants of the strategic plan is to more fully utilize volunteers.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In mid-2023 a full-time volunteer coordinator was hired to maximize this opportunity.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
