What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Paraprofessional Supplemental Salary
Our organization funds salaries for paraprofessionals in our montessori-dual language setting. This eases the burden on teachers by providing much needed support. A good portion of the staff is also bilingual or Spanish speaking in order to further the school's goal of supporting and celebrating Latino/a culture and heritage.Sixty(60%)- Seventy(70%) percent of our annual budget is dedicated to this program. The paraprofessionals are employed in PreK-6th grade classrooms.
Continuing Education for Teachers
The second program our organization supports is training for teachers. We provide funding for teachers to become certified in Montessori. This allows them to add to their skill set, without the burden of continuing education costs. In exchange, we ask that each teacher commits to a timeframe in order to maximize our investment, provide stability, and retain staff. A majority of teachers that take part in this program are native Spanish speakers from varying Latin and Central American countries.
Cultural, Environmental, and Enrichment
Our organization funds all parent-led organizations at our school. They include, but are not limited to-PALAS(Padres Latinos de Sandoval), MAPAS(Maestras y Padres de Sandoval), and our garden committee. The PALAS committee is committed to planning events and education related to preserving our school's Latino(a) heritage and focus. The MAPAS committee is committed to providing equitable enrichment and teacher appreciation support. The garden committee works on improving our school's garden plot and education. Additionally, our organization provides funding for field trips and in-school enrichment to places and programs such as The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, History Colorado, the Butterfly Pavillion, to name a few. With any budget that remains, we help to fund art, physical education, and music programs at our school, as well as, community building events such as fun runs and picnics.
