What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
College of Arts and Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the center piece of Our Lady of the Lake University's liberal arts and sciences education mission. All undergraduate students take courses offered through the college as part of their general education requirements. Employers continue to report that they are seeking OLLU graduates for the global market because our graduates possess a solid work ethic and strong moral values. These skills and values allow them to become ethical decision makers and servant leaders in companies, nonprofit organizations, graduate school, and their communities.
Students who major in the programs offered through CAS are preparing for 21st century careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), healthcare, scientific research, education, government, nonprofits, law, media and the performing arts.
School of Business and Leadership
The School of Business and Leadership (SBL) is home to Our Lady of the Lake University's programs in accounting, business, cyber security, finance, healthcare administration, human resources management, leadership, management and marketing.
The business programs are nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). In addition, OLLU is part of the SAP® University Alliance program, an initiative that brings SAP (Systems Applications and Products) software, knowledge and skills into university classrooms around the world. Students learn how to apply the latest technology in a business context, integrate business strategy and processes and put information technology theory into practice. OLLU is the only local university that is part of the SAP program, giving OLLU graduates a competitive edge with prospective employers.
College of Professional Studies
The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is home to OLLU's premier community-service oriented programs in criminology, education, psychology social work and communication disorders. Hands-on learning is the focus in all of the degree programs with practica, internships and student-teaching built into the curriculum.
Two University-operated clinics - the Harry Jersig Speech-Language-Hearing Center and the Community Counseling Service give students the opportunity to work with real clients from the community in settings supervised by faculty.
All of the programs in the College of Professional Studies prepare students to be culturally sensitive and offer optional bilingual/bicultural certification.
Worden School of Social Service
Housed in the College of Professional Studies, the Worden School of Social Service is home to Our Lady of the Lake University's social work programs. As the first school of social work in Texas, established more than 75 years ago, OLLU has set the standards for social work education and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Degrees are offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences is integral to the Worden School's mission and commitment to working with at-risk populations, with special emphasis on Hispanic children and families. At the undergraduate level, students can earn a biliterate (English-Spanish) certificate with the BSW and/or a certificate in Violence Prevention and Intervention. At the MSW level, students acquire skills and knowledge for specialized intervention in direct practice, with special emphasis on Hispanic children and families.
The Worden School is often recognized for excellence in educating the country's social workers.
