What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The Jewish Federation of San Antonio is the coordinating convening body dedicated to building Jewish community, nurturing the quality of Jewish life, and securing a favorable Jewish future. Inspired by Jewish religious teachings, Federation embodies the values of Tzedakah (justice, charity, righteousness), Klal Yisrael (the responsibility of each Jew to one another-peoplehood), Tikkun Olam and the centrality of Israel to the Jewish people.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Jewish Community Relations Council

Our Jewish Community Relations Council (“JCRC”) serves as the community relations, public policy and advocacy arm of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio. We advocate for Jews wherever they may be and foster amicable relationships with and between other religious, ethnic, racial and national groups in the San Antonio area.

The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio is dedicated to educating our community about the dangers of hatred, prejudice and apathy. Through our exhibits and educational programming, we honor the memory of the six million Jews and other innocent victims of the Holocaust and the inspirational legacy of those who survived. The museum is free and open to the public. Walk-in visitors are invited to enjoy a self-guided tour while groups of twenty or more need to schedule docent-led tours that may offer the chance to hear testimony from a local Holocaust survivor. The Museum also offers off-site educational programs, Educator Trunks, and Traveling Exhibits for schools who are unable to visit the museum. The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio also hosts a number of lectures, films and educational events throughout the year to commemorate the millions who perished in the Holocaust and to educate the public about this tragic chapter in history. Please look for event information and schedule tours, trunks, traveling exhibits and off-site visits through the museum website: hmmsa.org.

San Antonio loves PJ Library!!! In addition to receiving age appropriate books every month in the mail, you'll be invited to a variety of programs throughout the year where you can meet other families with young children.

PJ Library San Antonio offers so many outlets for Jewish learning…

When the monthly books come, it is a perfect time to turn those snuggly moments into Jewish moments and enjoy Jewish reading time together.

When you come to our events, you meet other Jewish families from around San Antonio, and your families can form connections that will last a life time! We have wonderful signature events all over town including frozen yogurt shops, partnerships with our local synagogues and Jewish schools. We had a huge Back to School Jewish Rock Star concert, and each year we celebrate holidays of all types, including Jewish and national, together.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Together we work to repair the world. The Jewish Community Relations Council, our advocacy and social action arm of Federation, provides a wide variety of educational opportunities and programs to the community. Additionally, we coordinate virtual programming and events with our Partnership Region in the Western Galilee in Israel, Budapest, Hungary, and in cities across the United States.

From Generation to generation, we are always working to ensure the next generation of Jewish San Antonians will have a vibrant and welcoming community. Through engaging programs and planned giving, we foster relationship building, connection to Jewish values, and personal development.

In memory of the 6 million Jews and other innocent victims of the Holocaust: The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio teaches the danger of hatred, prejudice, and apathy, and promotes good citizenship, democratic values, and respect for human dignity.

Holocaust education has been an ongoing priority of the San Antonio Jewish community for more than forty years. First developed as a short program for local schools to supplement their curriculum, the museum now serves thousands of visitors and students annually.

The Jewish Federation, as the convening platform for the Jewish Community has a goal of uniting the Jewish Community by providing a lens to engagement and enrichment of Jewish traditions and faith.

The Jewish Federation is preparing for its 100 year celebration in 2022, thus we have deep roots and connections, as well as a philanthropic base of constituents that desire that our legacy is vibrant today and in the future. We have a vision of being HERE for you, HERE for our community, and HERE for our future. We are building a plan for Jewish San Antonio 2030 and expect it empowers our community for the long term.

Through this COVID environment we have maintained our engagement and visibility with our constituents and continue to build that every day.
