What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Housing Counseling

NEWSED’s Homebuyer Program provides counseling to help individuals develop a plan to become eligible for ownership. Services are free, personalized, provide financial counseling, down payment assistance, credit repair and post counseling. Bi-monthly CHFA certified homebuyer workshops are offered in house and online. Foreclosure counseling assists individuals with navigating the banking process to find better options and possible loan modifications. These programs accomplish increased financial knowledge, security and asset building. NEWSED homebuyer counseling is NEWSED’s oldest program and has assisted thousands of individuals and families.

NEWSED Small Business Programs include a Start-Up Business Workshops with consultant Cheryl Lucero, an eight-course Business Basic Course and our retail incubator – The ZONE Marketplace. Complementary to these programs is our small business loan program.

NEWSED has a long history of developing commercial, residential and mixed use real estate that has been the driving force behind our efforts in the creation of a bricks and mortar approach to economic development. In total NEWSED has developed over 650,000 square feet of housing and retail/commercial real estate over the last three decades making NEWSED one of the eldest, most successful and influential Community Development Corporations (CDCs) in the city of Denver.
