What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Almost 1 million people living in the United States are diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and over 2,500,000 worldwide. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive, unpredictable, and often difficult-to-diagnose disease that affects the central nervous system (the brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord). Believed to be an autoimmune disorder, MS is a disease in which the body's immune system attacks the individual's own tissue. Since there is no cure, it takes a village to manage the disease, and we call it a family disease. Can Do MS specializes in helping people manage their disease daily while we wait for a cure to be found.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Coaching

When we connect with a group of people to give and receive support, amazing things happen.

During Coaching, you’ll meet a small group of people who are on similar journeys as you. Together, you’ll learn from one another and your Can Do Coach to set goals, create plans of action, and make real changes for your life!

Join us every month to meet with and learn from the MS community.

During each two-hour program, we’ll focus on a specific symptom, challenge, or strategy for life with MS. Learn from our Can Do Coaches then discuss and share ideas with your peers during breakout sessions.

These virtual, workshop-style programs can help you find connection and motivation in a positive environment. JUMPSTART is offered at no cost to you and is easily accessed via Zoom.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our vision for Can Do MS is to strengthen every family living with MS regardless of financial ability.

1. Strengthen And Expand Programming-Innovate and bring to scale our industry-leading world-class health and wellness education programs to reach more families across the country; everyone, everywhere, anytime. Enhance our high-value in-person programming. Connect with diverse populations, providing the breadth and depth of programs needed to significantly improve quality of life. Quantify the impact of our work to recognize which programs are best to deliver and ensure that Can Do MS is effective in transforming lives.
2. Create Partnerships- Expand access to programs by collaborating with leaders in the healthcare industry – hospital systems, insurance providers, nonprofit organizations and support services – to increase the number of families we impact. Generate the financial resources needed to sustainably increase the number of communities we are able to reach and the constancy of our services. Leverage technology and partnerships to boost operational efficacy and amplify communications reach.
3. Mobilize People - Inspire all stakeholders to increase personal commitment, passion for the mission and our impact on families. Invest in our people to strengthen skills, expertise, and the capacity for organizational growth. Supercharge pace of work by adding technology, tools, and systems that make it easier to meet our mission. Engage board and committees members in the work and action needed to achieve the plan.

Own the online health and wellness central information source. Quantify programs impact, focusing on behavioral change outcomes.

Communications / Marketing
Increase financial resources, programs awareness and consultant team members. Invest in digital marketing, events marketing and personal fundraising. Create and execute a brand plan that addresses the long-term needs of the organization. Clarify and communicate our competitive advantage.

Technology
Harness fully integrated technology structures and systems, prioritizing scalability, mobility, efficiency and flexibility. Address hardware, software, phone, video and web platforms to increase efficacy and quality.

Board & Team Development
Engage and provide education for our board leaders in advancing mission awareness and scholarship support, prioritizing fundraising partnerships. Align culture and composition to reflect the skills and expertise needed to help the organization achieve our plan.

Be a 'Best Place to Work' organization in culture, commitment, personal growth capacity and longevity. Invest training resources for the team, utilizing subject matter experts (SME's) to develop leadership, skills, expertise and team functioning. Design career paths that enable staff to dedicate entire lives of service to Can Do.

In 2021, Can Do MS impacted over 150,000 families living with MS. In 2022, we reached and surpassed expectations, reaching 206,145, which is nearly a 30% increase year over year.
