Mission

The mission of Texas Education broadcasting, AKA KOOP Community Radio is to provide high quality, innovative, and diverse community oriented programming to Austin with an emphasis on those communities that are ignored or enderserved by mainstream media; including serving and promoting specific communities of African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Chicana/os, elders, gays, lesbians, homeless, immigrants, Indigenous peoples, Latinos/as, peoples with disabilities, women, working and poor people, youth, and other underserved communities. KOOP Community Radio supports the struggle for social justice and peace. KOOP Community Radio will operate with a high level of participation and accountability to the communities being served.

KOOP Community Radio Austin

KOOP broadcasts 67 radio programs 7 days a week, from 9am to 7pm Monday through Friday and to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. The frequently changing programming, ranging from 15 minute to 2 hour programs, includes music from many communities, among them Czech, Jamaican, Andean, Canjun, Mexican, Tejano, Arabic, Persian, local, urban and country. News and public affairs programming is aimed at different communities also, including mothers, elders, indigenous people, youth, disabled, gays, and others. Programs feature interviews with local, national and international artists, musicians, activists and representatives from community organizations.
