Mental Health & Substance Use Recovery Services and Supports

SIMS Foundation began providing affordable mental heath and substance use recovery services and support to musicians only but over the years, we've been able to expand our reach to include music industry professionals and their dependent family members. SIMS Foundation has a proven track record of connecting clients to our Provider Network at the appropriate level of care for their needs while providing intensive case management to every client as well as to their loved ones.

In 2018, SIMS added a focus on prevention and education through our Music Venue Trainings. The core curriculum has three modules: Mental Health 101, Substance Use Recovery 101 with Naloxone Training (facilitated in partnership with Communities for Recovery) and SAFE Bar (facilitated in partnership with the Sexual Assault Response and Resource Team).

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Through all of our services, SIMS is aiming to ensure that everyone in the music industry is emotionally well and to ensure that, when they are struggling, they have access to every level of care they may need to stabilize. Through our education programming and our advocacy work, we would like to destigmatize behavioral health issues, making it easier for people to asking for help.

SIMS offers trainings on mental health, substance use and sexual assault and harassment to the music community as a way to destigmatize these issues while also offering valuable information on how to communicate around these issues, how to get the help one may need and how to support others in need of help. We also support the emotional wellbeing of the Central Texas music community by offering a full array of services, treatments and supports for mental health and substance use issues at a vastly reduced cost.

SIMS Foundation employs a full clinical staff who handle all clinical assessment, supportive counseling for clients and their support network, grief counseling and support when our music community experiences a loss, case management and coordination of care for all of our clients. These same clinical staff members also facilitate the Venue Trainings that are offered in our community. Finally, SIMS has a network of over 130 service providers that provide the full service array of mental health and substance us services and supports.

We have grown our provider network to over 130 practitioners and have every type and level of care for behavioral health issues in our network. This has ensured that, no matter what the issue a person is struggling with, we will have the appropriate service to help. We have successfully grown our services beyond direct service care to include education and advocacy.
