What we aim to solve
The New Braunfels Public Library Foundation is currently striving to achieve a one-time goal: bring library access (physically and technically) to the many library members in our area who are not able to come to our library. All ages are affected by this problem: seniors, children, hospitalized, homebound, etc. We are hoping to be able to reach all citizens of New Braunfels and our surrounding area.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
New Braunfels Book and Author Luncheon
The New Braunfels Public Library Foundation has successfully sponsored the Book and Author Luncheon for ten years. Begun as a way to bring well-known authors (and a little cultural enrichment) to New Braunfels for our community, the event now sells out. Every year the Foundation organizes this event and every year it gets bigger and better. Five authors, national and local, are invited to join the Foundation for lunch and to talk about their works. What began as a small gathering has now grown into sold-out audiences. Everyone profits: the authors, the guests, and the Foundation.
Stay at Home Ball
The Foundation sends out an invitation to a "stay-at-home ball", encouraging supporters to send in checks, stay at home, and enjoy a good book. It promotes reading while helping to raise funds for capital improvements for the library.
Expansion of Library Services
The Library Foundation is currently working with the New Braunfel's City Manager and City Council to explore expansion of library services to other needed sites within the city limits.
Campaign to get the 2019 Bond passed.
We are creating videos, handouts, slide shows, and speaker bureau to inform the citizens of New Braunfels about the need to expand our library system with a new branch library and a smaller satellite branch in an underserved area. We will work to insure that the library expansion is on the 2019 Bond issue.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. To purchase and man a vehicle (Sprinter Van) to be responsible for delivery and pick-up of library materials.
2. To provide communication capabilities so that our citizens will be able to let us know what is requested.
3. To update in-house procedures to ease these responsibilities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Raise money.
2. Update our social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
3. To negotiate a price on a finished-out van.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
All of these goals can be accomplished. We recently sponsored Admiral McRaven in our event center; it was very successful and raised over half of the money for our Sprinter Van. We have worked with our local car dealership favorably for the perfect vehicle needed. Our social media has been updated, constantly kept current. Technical updates in a weekly newsletter to our community keep our community informed (currently servicing over 1200 customers per day).
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have only money to raise. Our other goals are basically accomplished because we are always working together to solve our problems.
In the future, we will have our annual Book and Author Luncheon, a very successful project supported by business, industries, and citizens. The future looks good.
