What we aim to solve New!

What MCSS has done for the last 17 years is prevent Muslims from becoming homeless. There are two subsets here - refugee families and battered muslim women. Our goal is to not just be the last safety net but since we are seeing recurring patterns, we are creating channels for self sufficiency like 1) paying for drivers ed courses 2) supporting single women to get education, 3) offer office hours for help to navigate their new home 4) help fill out forms 5) provide a place where they can come ask questions, 6) get an occasional loan, 7) get a ride, 8)get hooked up to other local assistance services such as WIC or Any Baby Can 9) provide backpack drives and run eid toy drives for children of single moms, 10) stay engaged with the greater community via collaborations with other nonprofits as well as storytimes during Islamic holidays, 11) help find affordable housing, 12) be a place where people can find other local businesses or Muslim artists or Masajid or Quran classes.

For some clients it means even paying their rent while they get back on their feet. I can’t think of many organizations that do these things - which is why there ARE homeless people. MCSS is our community preventing that. Our Buy Nothing group also helps facilitate the growth of community via gifting and exchange of items to prevent waste while also recycling items. Most of our brothers and sisters - when they fall short on $$ and food is running low at the end of the month and they can’t make their rent, nobody else is giving assistance to them. Thanks for being part of the people in this community who support us. We depend on each of you.

Continued engagement with our donors Website updates Constant research for the best ways to help our recipient population Recruitment of active volunteers and board members

Very dedicated volunteers and a healthy donor base

We have officers including a dedicated treasurer to constantly analyze our success

Helped many families toward becoming financially independent, navigating the Austin society, translated for so many people and provided transportation. Tutoring. community engagement via storytimes.
