VNA was established in 1934 by volunteer nurses and community leaders as a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) agency to provide home health care to families with nowhere to turn and no means to pay. VNA helps older adults live with dignity and independence at home. VNA is the community's most trusted provider of quality healthcare services in the home and is the oldest, most experienced Hospice Care provider in Texas. VNA offers Meals on Wheels in Dallas County, and VNA Hospice and Private Care in Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Henderson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, Rockwall, Tarrant and Van Zandt counties.

VNA Meals on Wheels
VNA Meals on Wheels provides nutritious, hot, home-delivered meals to those who due to illness, advanced age or disability are unable to provide or prepare their own meals. Serving 4,600 hungry, homebound seniors in Dallas, VNA delivers nearly 300 routes with 200 drivers—half of whom are volunteers—covering the entire 1,000 square miles of Dallas County.
It is estimated approximately 15% of Dallas County seniors (more than 17,500) lived below the poverty line (Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions, 2018). These are the hidden hungry—homebound, aging and unable to access resources like food pantries and grocery stores. These seniors are isolated and alone and VNA Meals on Wheels is there ensuring they are nourished body and soul with nutritious food and comforting friendship.
VNA Hospice Care
When traditional treatments no longer offer the hope of a cure, a person deserves to face a final illness with dignity and peace. That's the role of VNA Hospice Care.
Established in 1978, VNA Hospice Care is the oldest, most experienced hospice in Texas meeting the medical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical needs of patients and their families.
Nurses, health aides, chaplains and volunteers work as team to provide interdisciplinary symptom management and bereavement counseling. Hospice Care is a Medicare/Medicaid benefit that covers the full cost of standard hospice services and appropriate medical equipment such as hospital beds, wheelchairs and walkers.
VNA is a nonprofit agency serving the community. VNA is a Medicare certified Hospice agency and also provides hospice care to those without Medicare or insurance through the generosity of the community.
