For more than 70 years, United Way of Denton County has partnered with local donors, businesses, governments, and nonprofits to co-create solutions to people's most pressing challenges. We take a comprehensive approach, listening and responding to local needs. With our community partners, United Way of Denton County creates pathways to better healthcare, education, and job opportunities. From strengthening local resilience to advancing overall health, youth opportunity, and financial security, we're working towards a future where every person in Denton County, regardless of age, can flourish and reach their full potential.

Denton County Behavioral Health Leadership Team

In response to findings and recommendations by the Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, government and community organizations representing Denton County have convened the Denton County Behavioral Health Leadership Team. Our goal is to establish and maintain a continuum of care to address mental health issues in Denton County

UWDC maintains a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment on the areas of Education, Workforce Success and Health to prioritize the deployment and coordination of our community's resources.

The mission of the Workforce Success Leadership Team is to create and promote a holistic community approach to the workforce that provides every individual and family with the opportunity to increase earning potential, succeed, and thrive. The vision is for all individuals in Denton County to achieve financial security.

As the backbone organization to the Denton County Housing & Homelessness Leadership Team, United Way of Denton County enhances the outcomes of all partners by facilitating a shared vision, shared measurements, mutually reinforcing activities, and continuous communication. The Denton County Housing & Homelessness Leadership Team fosters an effective and coordinated system of homelessness prevention and intervention, resulting in homelessness that is rare, brief and nonrecurring. The vision is a Denton County community where everyone has a place to call home that is safe, affordable, accessible, and supported by community resources.

The Denton County Veteran Stability Program seeks to help eligible Veterans, their dependents and surviving spouses facing financial hardships with temporary assistance. Program participants may be eligible to receive financial assistance with: -rent or mortgage -utilities -transportation -restorative dental care -critical documents -childcare payments

UWDC maintains a database of all health and human services available to Denton County residents. This database is published as an annual Community Resources Directory as well as furnished to Texas 2-1-1. Using our Community Resources Directory, UWDC Staff and Volunteers are trained to answer a helpline and provide simple referral services to Denton County residents.

Through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, United Way-trained, IRS-certified volunteers prepare taxes free of charge for ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households earning up to $64,000 in annual income. Annually, this program helps Denton County residents improve economic mobility and financial security with over $1 million in refunds annually.
