Homeless Shelter
Austin Street Center is one of the largest low barrier shelters in Dallas that has served men, ages 45 and older, and women, ages 18 and older since 1983. Beyond meeting basic needs, Austin Street is committed to helping our clients regain their independence and find a permanent place to call home. No matter how they got here, we focus on a caring, customized, collaborative approach that involves a variety of services and special programs to remove barriers to permanent housing. As more than an emergency shelter, we provide the following services to care for the homeless: Basic Needs Employment Services Spiritual Support Medical Health & Respite Care Mental Health Care Substance Use Treatment Benefits Navigation Housing-Focused Case Management Homelessness Diversion Services Transportation Assistance

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Austin Street Center's goal is to provide safe shelter and meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable homeless. Austin Street Center accomplishes this by continuing to track and increase activity in the following areas:

What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Austin Street Center's strategy is two fold. Treat every client with dignity and respect, and maintain a housing first approach to resolving homelessness. All of Austin Street Center's efforts, activity, and programs align to these two points.
