What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Child abuse is a community problem. It is important that the community have a response that provides child-focused services to children, ensures collaboration among agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of child abuse and education for the community on how to recognize, respond and report child abuse.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Forensic Interviewing

The Bridge interviews children who have been victims of abuse. These interviews are conducted by trained forensic interviewers and digitally recorded. The recording are used in place of the child having to tell their story over and over, being re-victimized.

Safety Education programs are offered, free of charge to school age children. These programs are designed to teach and reinforce the three R’s of personal safety: Recognize, Resist and Report. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Provide a safe haven for sexually and physically abuse children and their non-offending family members.
Offer a setting for agencies and professionals to respond to the allegations of maltreatment as they work together to reduce the trauma experience by child victims.
Respond to the need for child abuse prevention and awareness by offering interactive education for the community.

Reduce trauma to child victims by offering a friendly, comfortable environment where many aspects of the investigation take place in a non-threatening manner. The children are interviewed one time at The Bridge rather than time and time again by various agencies involved in the case.
Educate those who interact with children, including teachers, neighbors, law enforcement, service providers, faith community, pediatricians and emergency room personnel. Education will focus on the signs of, how to report, and the prevention of physical and sexual child abuse.
Respond to the growing demand to meet victim’s needs and rights in the region by making services more easily accessible.
