Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The goal of the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association is support existing activities and to extend the reach of amateur radio within the Scouting movement by introducing the fun, techology, and magic of amateur radio to as many Scouts as possible.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Strategies for reaching the goal above have been to:
--- Support all amateur radio events within Scouting that desire to use the K2BSA call sign at their event.
--- Support the annual Jamboree on the Air through promotion and on air activities.
--- Support the National Scout Jamboree by building a team of operators that get on the air at the Jamboree, teach Radio Merit Badge, and other amateur radio activities.
--- Promote all amateur radio activities within Scouting.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The key capabilities of the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association are promotion via website www.k2bsa.net, Facebook page K2BSA.Scouting, and Twitter account K2BSA_Scouting. These communication portals provide substantial information to amateur radio operators and Scouting staff/volunteers in support of amateur radio activities and events. This site also provides information and application for the use of the K2BSA call sign at Scouting events. The association further provides extensive support to the National Scout Jamboree through staffing and operation throughout the event. It also provides support and communication around partners such as the ARRL, American Radio Relay League, the national association of amateur radio operators, and sponsors of Radio Scouting activities which include Icom America, DX Engineereing, and MFJ Enterprises.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We've continued to see excellent participation in Jamboree on the Air with 10,000+ Scouts active in October 2018. The USA National Jamborees in 2013 and 2017 demonstrated amateur radio to over 3,000 Scouts each year. We look forward the the World Scout Jamboree in July 2019.
