Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
A5A Classes, Workshops, Performances, Events & Exhibits
Arts Fifth Avenue (A5A) maintains a 12-month calendar of events and produces or hosts approximately 65 to 70 events annually in addition to our regular 11-month schedule of classes, workshops, and master classes. Many of our events are annual standards and part our regular season includes our celebration of National Tap Dance, The Django Reinhardt Festival (3-day); annual Dallas native, James Clay; Shakespeare In The Parking Lot; a minimum of 3 visual art exhibits; performances by local small theatre companies; Jazzy Christmas, Jazzy Valentines, Burlesque Variety revues, and a series of concerts featuring primarily jazz music but also including classical guitar, Americana, Texas music, and more (when appropriate local visual artists are invited to show their work at our live performance events.)
Our event schedule is subject to change and we allow for additional performances by touring artists in all genres of the visual and performing arts without regard to race, gender or ethnicity. Our regular class schedule includes approximately 40 classes weekly in Tap, ballroom, burlesque, creative drama for ages 3-5, art for ages 8 & up, vocal chorus for adults, acting and more. We also offer private lessons in guitar, voice, piano and dance. Our summer programming includes 3 1-week Summer Playhouses, art for children age 8 & up, ballroom, and burlesque. We also continue to offer a series of free tap classes on Saturday afternoons as a gift to our community.
