TECHFW
Guiding innovators from idea to exit
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
TechFW aims to address the challenge of empowering entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into scalable businesses while driving economic impact, relying heavily on sponsor support to achieve this mission.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Incubation Program
The Incubation
Workshop is a series of intensive, hands-on sessions aimed at creating a
working business model and evaluating the feasibility of the early-stage
venture. It takes place over a 4 to 6 month period in small groups of 3 to 6 entrepreneurs for 3 hours per week. This is not classroom style, but hands-on work to put together a feasible business model.
Acceleration
The Acceleration
Program is a program customized to implement each client’s strategies and
build the infrastructure to improve its ability to succeed. Clients in this
program may also lease office or lab space in one of our incubator facilities.
Impact Awards
This program recognizes new companies with new technologies that will change our world. Companies apply by presenting a short paper about how their technology can make a real difference in the world (without mentioning dollars!). The winner in each of the three categories (health, environment, and community) makes a public presentation to several hundred people at a luncheon.
TechNest
Networking opportunities for technology entrepreneurs with each other and with featured experts on topics of particular interest to technology entrepreneurs
Cowtown Angel Network
Facilitating interaction between local angel investors and technology-based companies who are seeking investments.
MCrew
A team approach for mentorship where we partner experienced mentors and startup technology founders for a 6-month cohort.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
TechFW's goals include empowering entrepreneurs through comprehensive support, fostering economic prosperity by facilitating the growth of scalable businesses, and driving positive societal change through technology-driven innovation.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have three key strategic objectives: (1) Give new companies solid roots by attracting the desired target clients for our programs, utilizing our programs and resources to help them grow, and making it attractive for them to remain in the community; (2) Support a healthy ecosystem for technology-based entrepreneurship by building our relationships in the region and addressing gaps that limit entrepreneurial success; and (3) Be recognized for excellence in commercial acceleration by our clients and graduates, by our peer group, and by our partners and community, using outreach to tell our story.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Internal resources include our staff, made up of entrepreneurs themselves, who understand what our clients are going through and what they need. We have a diverse Board of Directors, composed of leaders in the business and academic communities that support our clients, and who have been on the Board for a period ranging from one to 15 years. We have a reasonable reserve set aside to provide financial stability. Externally, we have built a very strong network of supporting organizations, consisting of other nonprofits who play in our same space, and strong relationships with the universities and corporations whom our clients need to access for resources.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have made significant progress in helping the companies in our area get funding by establishing the Cowtown Angel Network, recruiting members, coaching companies on their presentations, and getting a thrill from seeing some companies get funded. We still have a long way to go. There are 20 angel investors in the group. We would like to see 35 by the end of 2013, and add at least 15 in 2014.
