What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Financial Assistance for Drug Treatment
Scholarships for drug treatment through established and certified programs, both residential and non-residential, for children within and outside of the criminal justice system. An essential part of recovery from drug addiction is effective and affordable drug treatment through established and certified programs. Unfortunately, many young people and their families are unable to afford the costs of this treatment. The Close Foundation will attempt to provide scholarships and other financial assistance for both residential and non-residential treatment for juveniles both within and outside of the Juvenile Justice system.
Provide support for the Circuit Court Juvenile Drug Court and Juvenile Drug Programs
The Circuit Court has conducted a Juvenile Drug Court for over one year. The results have been very encouraging but as with any such project additional resources are always needed. In addition, the majority of all juvenile drug counseling is done in Harford County by the Harford County Health Department which would welcome additional resources and appropriate financial assistance.
Discretionary Fund for Department of Juvenile Services
Many of the young people involved with the juvenile justice system have a need for financial assistance that is not available from the state. These needs range from a simple thing such as appropriate clothing to financial assistance with GED programs, vocational school, job skills training or college. If a fund was set up that Juvenile Caseworkers could rely on to provide financial assistance in cases where the family is unable to be or assistance, the work of DJJ would be greatly enhanced.
