Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
GHNI exists to empower villagers and others who are living in extreme poverty. Through a process called, Transformational Community Development, our national workers encourage, coach and equip communities to resolve the issues contributing to their cyclical poverty - clean, accessible water; renewable, nutritious food source; education for all children; the reduction of disease; and income generation for families.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The TCD process often takes 5 years (average) to complete. Training, encouragement and offering hope for a better future takes time. However, once a community has grasped the basic concepts, after just 5 years, the community is self-sustaining - no longer in need of outside funding! The strategy is launched by determining the best location for a "first" success in a region. Once the first village is showing progress, neighboring communities want GHNIs TCD workers in there villages. Clusters are launched, thus eventually spreading throughout nations struggling to rise above extreme poverty.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
GHNIs leadership is highly degreed, extensively traveled for development work in the most extreme areas of the globe and raises National Leaders to own the work being done in their regions. Detailed training, stepping back to understand cultural needs and allowing communities to lead and work to end their own poverty are key to bringing about sustainability.
Our capacity needs to grow as more communities are awaiting sponsorship - both funding and staff are needed.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
GHNI has "graduated" villages in Africa, Asia and the Middle East to become self-sustaining. These villages are continually growing in accomplishments without continued GHNI intervention. We are now actively involved in over 100 villages through partnering, as well as GHNI sponsored projects.
