For Kids Foundation
We provide or align resources so every child can thrive.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
For Kids Foundation provides financial assistance for urgently needed medical, dental, and psychological services when there is no other resource. We help the kids who "fall through the cracks" of existing agencies and programs to help the kids no one else will.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Awards for Children in Need
Our mission IS our program. We consider every application for assistance, regardless of the nature of the request or the source. The requirements are only that the request is for the direct benefit of the child, no other agency will fund it, and the child is 21 years of age or younger.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. Raise awareness of our mission
2. Identify children in need
3. Gain community support
4. Fund Program Awards
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
All activities are designed to 1) help identify children in need and 2) gain support of the community.
Before COVID-19 pandemic, our activities involved sharing our Program through networking events through the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce; speaking and live presentations to local service groups (Lions, Rotary, women’s clubs); phone calls and mailers with Program information periodically sent to organizations serving children (doctors’ offices, Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs, 4H groups, social workers, schools, and sport clubs) to help share our Program and identify children in need; and two to three fundraising events per year.
During COVID-19, we had to cancel our April fundraising dinner/dance and discontinue attendance at live speaking/networking events. We have moved to Zoom or other online platforms for networking. We have stayed in touch with donors through eNews through Constant Contact and social media (primarily Facebook).
Post-COVID-19, we continue to schedule presentations (either in person or via online platforms) and have resumed attending networking and other community events. We are planning our 6th Annual Golf Tournament for May 13, 2022.
Each fall and spring school starts, we send out informational brochures to teachers/counselors/service providers to share with students in need of our assistance and revisit local service provider offices.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
For Kids Foundation's leadership team (Chair, Board of Directors, and Executive Director) is passionate about serving children in our community. Each person comes to the organization with their skillset and connections and desire to further our mission.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our Program has quadrupled since 1/1/2018 (from 80 applicants a year in 2017 to ~400 applicants in 2023).
We have increased our reach to more rural locations in Nevada.
Our Annual Golf Tournament (primary annual fundraising event) has grown from 30 attendees in 2017 to sold-out event (144 players and 20 hole sponsors) in 2023.
We utilize online resources to present to service clubs and service providers throughout the State to share our Mission and identify children in need of our financial aid.

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
