Mission
Writers Rising Up is a 501(c) (3) public charity. Contributions are tax deductible. We encourage a deeper understanding and participation in environmental stewardship. Through the literary arts at community events, contests, workshops, literary performances, interpretive installations and publications, our focus is on nature education and writing. Through our submission opportunities we only promote writers who submit to our writing opportunities, and only writers who associate their work to cultural, spiritual and social connections to place, the land, natural habitat, including flora, fauna and wetlands.

Elizabeth Fries Ellet Interpretive Trail
The EFEIT was spearheaded by Writers Rising Up's Director Vicki Pellar Price. It was a four year project that was completed and installed in 2007. Kestrel Design Group joined the project and worked with the city of Eden Prairie for approvals and site location. Elizabeth Ellet was a New York writer who visited the area in 1852 and anecdotaly named the area that is now Eden Pairie, "a garden of Eden."
