What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
FieldSTEM
FieldSTEM® is PEI’s signature learning model that used to guide K-12 educators and administrators in integrating and teaching STEM subjects using regionally-significant content and learning opportunities, as well as ready access to the outdoors and local environments and business operations, to improve relevance, student engagement and performance. Through this model, we provide ongoing training and support to teachers and non-formal educators as well as school and district leaders. Demand for FieldSTEM is growing significantly, and with equity as a core value we focus a lot of our efforts on rural, remote and underserved districts and schools, where teachers and families often lack the resources to provide high quality education and enrichment. Our model is unusually accessible and impactful for both teachers and students.
Project Learning Tree and Project Wild
In addition to delivering FieldSTEM, PEI is the state coordinator for Project Learning Tree® and Project WILD®, both nationally acclaimed environmental education models that are used to integrate environmental and ecosystem lessons into basic K-12 education. Using these and other FieldSTEM frameworks, PEI develops the instructional skills of individual educators, including pre-service teachers at local universities, and helps them work with one another as well as local businesses and community organizations to enrich learning for students.
