How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

The Sunshine Kids Foundation serves pediatric oncology patients from across the country. Our mission is to add quality of life to children battling cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities and special opportunities so they may once again do what Kids are meant to do...have fun and celebrate life.

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To identify and remedy poor client service experiences, To identify bright spots and enhance positive service experiences, To make fundamental changes to our programs and/or operations, To strengthen relationships with the people we serve, To understand people's needs and how we can help them achieve their goals

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

Over the past year and in response to feedback from our Sunshine Kids, their families and hospital partners, the Foundation expanded our in-patient program to more pediatric oncology patients in hospitals across the country. Through these fun and interactive activities, hundreds of children with cancer have been able to escape the isolation brought on by a cancer diagnosis to enjoy having fun with others who share a common bond. Last year, we also received an overwhelming call for help from our families. Many of our parents were faced with coronavirus-related job loss or pay cuts. In response, we expanded our Holiday Giving Program and began to provide additional resources to our families including gift cards for groceries, school supplies, clothing and other necessities.

  • Which of the following feedback practices does your organization routinely carry out?

We collect feedback from the people we serve at least annually, We aim to collect feedback from as many people we serve as possible, We take steps to ensure people feel comfortable being honest with us, We engage the people who provide feedback in looking for ways we can improve in response, We act on the feedback we receive

  • What challenges does the organization face when collecting feedback?

We don't have any major challenges to collecting feedback
