Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Goal is to unite Filipinos and for them to support PABT. Different objectives are in place and in the drawing board to make this happen.

The strong presence of the Filipino community in Southeast Texas made PABT celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. “Bayanihan” is a Filipino value and custom derived from a Filipino word “bayan”, which means nation, town or community. The term “bayanihan” itself literally means “being in a bayan”, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, work and cooperation to achieve a particular goal. It is time for the Filipino community to push and apply this bayanihan spirit to the next level. To work towards a greater vision of building a common space for all - “BAHAY KUBO” (A Filipino Traditional Home). This will provide a space like a library to preserve Filipino stories for generation to come. A space like a museum to preserve Filipino traditions and heritage. Bahay Kubo is a tangible place where Filipinos can call it a “Home away from Home”. This building will promote camaraderie among members and non-members. It will educate youth and remind adults of the importance of Filipino culture and importance of education. It will provide, a place where Filipinos can gather and relive their life in the Philippines. This is a place where members and non-members can build camaraderie and learn from each other.
The census reports that there are about 39,000 Filipinos in Southeast Texas and data is trending upward. “Bahay Kubo” project is important to help unite Filipinos and bridge the gap of past. present and future Filipino American in Southeast Texas. It will be a place where we will highlights Filipino arts, designs, fashion, music, and language. It will showcase Filipino ingenuity and originality. Original Filipino handicraft, furnitures, decor, books and music will be displayed all over. Volunteers will offer “Filipino” language lesson for young Filipino-Americans.
The fund will be used to build the “Bahay Kubo” project by paying for the acquisition and construction of the property. PABT has volunteers and paid program coordinator to manage daily operations. PABT is in the position to take care of maintenance fees, taxes and purchasing original Filipino arts, decor, furniture, and crafts. PABT also possess a strong ties in the community and good membership support to ask for donations of original Filipino mementos and artifacts.
Presence of “BAHAY KUBO” in the Golden Triangle is a community development endeavor that will serve as constant reminder of the significant contributions of the Filipino people in promoting diversity and unity in the community. It is a symbolism of cultural pride for the Filipinos residing in the Golden Triangle

We are also planning on building a monument to symbolize our strong presence here in Southeast Texas.

We hired a Program coordinator to work on grant making.

We are collaborating with other 4 Filipino organization (religious and professional) to work with us and build our dream.

We are planning to write a letter to individual who believes in promoting Filipino culture and youth education to support our cause.

We do 2 fundraising event in a year to acquire income.

We continuously do membership campaign.

We try to modify PABT bylaws and membership ruling to change to have an annual membership dues.

It will be a challenge to accomplish the building of "Bahay Kubo" and Filipino monument. However, the current board members and officers strongly believes in the vision and willing to work hard to accomplish it. We currently have a net asset of more than 340,000 dollars and no liabilities. We just need to have a constant income stream that will assure the success and longevity of these project to last for future generation.

We have the promotional video for the Bahay Kubo. We have the architectural rendering for the monument.

WE have a scholarship grant to PABT member at Lamar University here in Beaumont Texas for freshman Filipino PABT members.

Future plans is to build income and continuous stream to make sure the monthly overhead for our project will be met.
