What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
National and Regional Gatherings
OLOC hosts bi-annual four-day National Gatherings of hundreds of Old Lesbians. Some years it hosts Regional Gatherings in years between National Gatherings. These events provide opportunities for Old Lesbians, who are often isolated in their own communities, to come together to celebrate, learn, experience camaraderie, and find and offer acceptance, support, and understanding for a few magical, very special days.
Newsletters
OLOC publishes a monthly electronic newsletter and a quarterly print/electronic newsletter for members and supporters. These publications inform readers of the organization's and member activities, as well as other events and news of interest to the population served.
They are supplemented by an online member-only discussion group that provides real-time conversation on issues of importance to members.
Outreach and Media
1) We maintain a Media Library of movies available for free home use. In addition, the Library has other media such as radio shows, music, and DVDs from pre-OLOC conferences and National Gatherings.
2) We provide support to the Old Lesbian Oral Herstory Project, which interviews Lesbians age 70 and over.
3) We honor Old Lesbians who have died in our Memorial Slide show, which we run at National Gatherings.
4) We sell Old Lesbian t-shirts and other items that promote Old Lesbian visibility with messages such as "This Is What An Old Lesbian Looks Like" in large, prominent print.
5) Our Research Gatekeeper vets requests for our participation in Lesbian research to ensure it will benefit and include Old Lesbians before recommending participation to our members.
6) We partner with other organizations with similar missions to engage in advocacy, activism, and social events.
7) We reach out to living facilities, retirement homes, and nursing homes to ensure that Old Lesbians stay visible.
8) We promote Old Lesbian visibility by attending
conferences of other national and local organizations,
presenting workshops on ageism and networking on
issues of mutual concern.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We are a national network of Old Lesbians over age 60 working to confront ageism in our communities and our country. We use education and public discourse as our primary tools.
Our organization is directed by a Steering Committee that works to form and support local groups in their own communities.
We hold biennial National Gatherings, allowing us to come together to share experiences and ideas and recharge our energies for the tasks at hand.
We believe that we have a great deal of wisdom, experience, and strength to share with our communities, as well as among ourselves.
Everyone will have her older life made better by the work we do.
We are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Lesbian voice as well as increasing Lesbian visibility in a world that stifles it and threatens to erase it.
OLOC works for change by supporting:
· Comprehensive immigration reform
· Elimination of violence against women
· Enactment of universal single-payer healthcare for all
· An end to corporate “personhood"
· An end to any curtailment of voting rights
· The #Black Lives Matter and Black Women's Lives Matter movement
