Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to donate $40,000 annually to the mental health services of Kern County. Currently we offer our support to The Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic (the Clinic). The Clinic provides mental health and substance abuse services and the resources necessary to promote wellness and recovery children, adults and families in our county. The Clinic depends on the work of the Child Guidance Guild of Bakersfield for funding. Since opening as a restaurant, we have donated $2.3 million to the mental health needs of children, adults and families.
In order to meet the goal and demands of the Child Guildance Guild, Guild House, volunteerism is critical to the success our nonprofit organization. We run a successful non-profit restaurant with all profit's designated to our mental health goal. The Child Guidance Guild runs the Guild House, a nonprofit, all-volunteer operated restaurant, serving a full meal lunch Tuesday through Thursday, September through June of each year. The Guild House is located in Bakersfield, California in a 1903 Craftsman restored house. Currently, the Guild has 214 active members who volunteer their time to cook, serve customers, wash dishes, The Guild House offers special events such as bridal showers, organization meetings, and other types of celebration events. The Guild House offers many 'House' evening events such as Gourmet Dinners, wine tasting events, seasonal dinners and entertainment, and special High Teas.
It is our goal to maintain the appropriate number of volunteers to staff the Guild House Restaurant. We offer many opportunities for training and on-going support for each volunteer. We have regular meetings throughout the year to keep our volunteers informed of the business of the House. The Child Guidance Guild Board arranges for many social events to build volunteer enthusiasm, offer a fun working environment and develop relationships.
