San Jose, CA   |  www.adventgm.org

Mission

Empower people to restore relationships and break cycles of abuse and addiction with the hope and healing made possible by Christ's love and quality treatment. We are a faith-based, non-profit, social service agency serving at-risk children and their families since 1985. Founded as a residential treatment program for adolescents, we have grown to include an outpatient recovery program for teens, a comprehensive family counseling center

Residential Recovery

Two group homes, each supporting six clients, one for girls and one for boys (ages 12-17)

Residential Recovery Program: Advent
offers an innovative live-in treatment program for chemically dependent teenagers,
the only program of its kind in Santa
Clara County.
We also provide treatment for accompanying emotional disturbances, sexual and
physical abuse and the effects of gang involvement. Our staff live with these
addicted teens 24-hours a day, striving to develop in our clients a commitment
to lasting recovery.  Treatment
includes:

 ·
A Christian focus to recovery
·
Daily group counseling

·
Individual and family counseling

·
Drug and alcohol education

·
Schooling

·
Twelve-step meetings

·
Horse therapy

Our most successful tool is the relationship
between our staff and the teenagers – relationships of trust in which real
change can occur.

Outpatient Recovery
Services: Our Step Up! outpatient program offers teens struggling
with substance abuse intensive group therapy, recovery education, individual
counseling and family therapy. This program has been successful in providing
teens with in-depth treatment while they remain in their homes.  Step
Up! also provides after-care services for youth emerging from our
short-term residential treatment.

Because the Step Up! program is funded by minor
consent Medi Cal, services are offered at
to teens and most young adults up to 21 years of age. Eligibility is based on
age and the need for substance abuse services - not income.
In order to
reach even more youth in need of outpatient recovery services, we’ve recently expanded
our Step Up! program into local high
schools!

Advent’s new Step Up! In the Schools
program makes it possible for local public and community high school students to
receive substance abuse and mental health treatment during or after
school.

At Advent, we
want to do whatever it takes to reach out to youth right where they are. Having
counselors on campus helps address the practical and emotional hurdles that
create barriers to kids getting the help they need to overcome their problems
and succeed in school.
