Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Juvenile delinquency and gang involvement is prevalent throughout the low income areas of our community.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Services for At-Risk Youth
Youth Connection accepts referrals from teachers, social workers, probation officers and other community based organization for at-risk young people who are not in the Juvenile Justice system. These referrals are evaluated and connections are made to services such as sports, art and dance classes, tutoring, mentoring and more.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals is to connect at risk youth, ages 6-13 years old, to community resources to help build self-confidence, improve communication skills, appreciate the value of team work, and train them to become future leaders.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Develop a bank of resources including public, private and donated service providers. Generate sufficient funds and services to carry on operation. Identify services which are lacking and recruit new providers. Establish and implement statistical tracking. Connect at risk youth to services which address problems, or assist in redirection.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are housed at the Kern County Probation Department, and receive referrals from officers on youth that are identified as high risk. Additionally, we receive referrals from school counselors, mental health professionals and other community agencies.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Last year, none of the Youth Connection clients served in the juvenile justice system.
