Mission

NCBI Monterey County was founded in 1993 by a diverse group of county residents, including students, educators, community leaders, law enforcement, clergy, businesspeople and artists of different races, religions, class and economic backgrounds. We work together to eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, antiSemitism, and all other forms of oppression, and to help diverse groups of people to resolve conflict and find common ground. We have reached more than 20,000 people in Monterey County with training and consultation.

NCBI Diversity Leaders in Schools

We develop High School Affiliate teams of NCBI-trained students who conduct Diversity & Inclusion workshops for their peers, and who act as resources on their campuses for equity and inclusion issues.

The current series of community gatherings started in 2014 and includes 3-4 events per year that address racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, homophobia and other forms of oppression. These events bring together individuals who are seeking information, tools and resources to make our community more welcoming, inclusive and equitable, and to provide a space for healing from the effects of oppression.
