Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Assisted Living Program
Often we meet animals in shelters who are not good candidates for adoption. These animals usually have chronic health conditions or temperament issues that require that they be closely monitored for safety.
Over the years, CAPE has been able to save the lives of dozens of animals who were brought into our ALP which is designed to provide animals who are not candidates for adoption with permanent foster care in the home of a loving CAPE foster volunteer. Volunteers who sign up for this program make a commitment to care for the animal for the remainder of the animal’s life, and CAPE covers all expenses.
The huge success of this program has been due to the kindness and commitment of our wonderful volunteer team, who we are deeply grateful for.

CAPE is a provider of high quality, accurate, accessible and innovative education on animals as sentient beings.
CAPE expands its role as thought leader and convener to address “upstream” issues and become effective change agents.
CAPE strengthens and strategically expands direct services for dogs and farmed animals with special needs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
GOALS
1. To expand our social media and online presence to reach larger audiences.
2. Develop on-site education capabilities
3. Create educational materials in both English and Spanish across mediums (publications, videos, social media, etc.)
4. Host special events with sanctuary tours, speakers, films, and workshops
5. Explore root causes of dog surplus in California
6. Organize animal advocates to become more effective
7. Collaborate with rescue and advocacy organizations to help more animals in need
8. Increase educational materials that focus on animal issues in our society
9. Maintain dog rescue programs
10. Expand the number of partner organizations
11. Transition from volunteer to paid senior management
12. Identify relevant professionals to assist with financial and legal responsibilities
