Mission

Vision New America is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that identifies and encourages underrepresented minorities, starting with the Asian Pacific Americans, to become more involved in American civic activities. While the ethnic diverse population in Silicon Valley has increased dramatically over the past three decades, the participation in civic activities remains limited and our visibility as a community with political power is quite low. We hope to help our communities take on a greater role in our nation's activities. In order to accomplish these objectives, we are offering programs to both educate, motivate, and inspire participation in community service and in our government.

Youth Leadership and Civic Engagement Programs

Youth Leadership and Civic Engagement Programs (YLCE) consists of two focus programs of either Public Policy or Public Health Policy program.  Young leaders are selected from all the local high schools and colleges to be placed as part of the program in government offices located in Northern California, Sacramento, and Washington D.C.  Each year we can select up to 60 young leaders who go through a rigorous four part training program where they learn how to influence policy change within their own communities.  At the end of the program, students are socially conscious active leaders who understand how to influence and create change.  Our hope is for them to be the future diverse responsible leaders of our communities representing the diversity of our regions.
