SIPAZ has three areas of work: A) International Presence This includes: Assisting in the prevention and/or the reduction of the violence in Chiapas and increasingly in Oaxaca and Guerrero.
Providing a dissuasive effect through our physical presence in the places and moments of major conflict.
Working to preserve space for international accompaniment work, defense of human rights, and peace building.
B) Information This includes: Providing visibility of the causes, consequences, and responses to the conflicts in Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Guerrero in order to raise awareness and to mobilize the local, national, and international communities in the search for peaceful responses.
Informational materials produced and distributed include: Quarterly Reports, Web Page, Special Reports and Urgent Acions.
Team members provide visiting Delegations and visitors to Chiapas with background information and analysis of the current social-political situation.
C) Peace Promotion This includes: Supporting the construction of peace through strengthening the actors that can play a positive role in the transformation of the existing conflicts, and working jointly with other organizations, movements and networks in order to articulate the needs and support of this process.
