What we aim to solve
We believe that the arts are an essential component of any community. At the Carpinteria Arts Center, we strive to provide opportunities for every member of our community to enjoy, appreciate, and learn about the arts, and to learn new skills that will enhance and enrich their lives. We are particularly focused on enhancing local opportunities for young people to access arts education, which provides life-long benefits across many facets of our lives.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We hope to bring diverse components of our community together through the arts, including programs for children, teens and adults to enjoy the arts and to learn new forms of art. We also offer opportunities for local and regional artists to exhibit and sell their work in our gallery, and we offer opportunities for musicians to perform (paid) for the benefit of our community. We offer teaching artists a venue to offer their expertise to students, both youth and adult.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are in the process of renovating a building to provide workshop, studio, and gallery space, as well as a beautiful courtyard for outdoor concerts and arts workshops, and our Arts by the Sea summer camp for children. We have an organized tour program to visit local and regional galleries, private collections, and museums. We offer programs for everyone to access the arts through our venue.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Governed by a very capable and diverse board of directors and a small staff, our organization is building the capacity, through staff, volunteers, and local artists, to reach beyond our small town to provide opportunities for exhibitions, workshops, classes, musical and dance performances, poetry, and more.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
What began as an effort by a small group of artists to establish a local community gallery has now grown into a full-fledged community arts center, offering programming for all ages and community events and activities all centered around the arts in all forms - visual arts, poetry, music, performance, dance, etc. We are working to bring arts back into the elementary, middle and high schools. After raising $2,999,000 toward our goal of $3.1 million, we have purchased a building adjacent to our current site and have now broken ground on renovations for a state of the art gallery and new workshop space. This will have a significant impact on our community of 15,000 as well as drawing many people from the surrounding communities of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Ojai.
