COMMUNITY KITCHEN FEEDING THE FLATHEADinc

aka n/a   |   Kalispell, MT

Mission

We wish to alleviate hunger in Kalispell. Individuals, families, friends, and church groups join together serve the hungry body and soul. Nutritious hot suppers are served by waitstaff to all who show up with good attitudes and good appetites 4 to 6 days a week every month. We gladly assist others who wish to start feeding people. We supply pr and supplies when possible.

Notes from the nonprofit

We are 100% volunteer. Our focus is serving people. Our mission to serve those who are falling through the cracks. Having a nutritious evening meal allows our guests to put what money they have toward rent, utilities, medical needs and/or transportation. Dining inside, being able to socialize and being prayed for uplifts our guests. Often we are able to direct guests to resources they need.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Housing is expensive in Kalispell which leaves too many people unable to eat well. We have too many people homeless. We serve food like we are serving guests in a restaurant. Many of our guests have fallen between the cracks in our system. We accept people as they are. We provide a welcoming atmosphere where they can dine and visit with others. In the winter we give those without homes fuel to make it through one more night.. Corona virus has limited us to mainly hand out meals. The majority of our to-go meals are hot. Finally found a place to serve sit down meals in a safe environment. Plumbing issues as of February 2022 have cost us an inside dining room. Currently striving to find dining rooms we may serve meals in.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We wish to prevent anyone from going to bed hungry. We are here so no one who has a good attitude and appetite needs to go to bed hungry. We truly strive to treat our guests as Jesus would; without prejudice.

We accept food donations, We serve as restaurants do. We cook nutritious meals. We show God's love to our guests.

We are blessed with many able volunteers and folks who provide food whether it be part of a meal an entire meal or more. The pandemic has changed how we serve. Many of our meals are to-go due to facilities being shut down.

We served meals to 13024 people in 2021. We added four more days a month at another site where guests may sit down to eat. We publicize other free meals in the area and share excess food with them.
