What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Airman / Pilot / Soldier for a Day

This program is focused on providing a child who is battling a serious illness with an experience of a lifetime. The child and family are welcomed at a military base and experience what it's like to be a pilot / airman / soldier for the day. Each child is paired up with a military "WINGMAN" who becomes a mentor for the child.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

It is our vision that one day every child battling a serious illness and every military veteran will have a WINGMAN who has their back.

We will continue to focus on our 6 pillars of aid, assistance, experiences, purpose, inspiration, and hope while finding new and innovative ways to help the children and military veterans we serve.

We will continue to spread our message, gathering awareness, and expand what we have done in the Washington DC area to the rest of the nation.

We have created a one of a kind, benchmark experience for the children we support. We have helped many veterans who were being evicted, having their electric and water shut off, insurance cancelled, and bills unpaid.

We also created a WINGMAN FOR LIFE COALITION - partnering with the Air Force Association and Beyond Brave non-profits. Through this coalition, we provide funding for permanently disabled retired list (PDRL) veterans to attend workshops, events and adaptive sports competitions such as the Warrior Games.

Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
