Mission

It is our ongoing mission to ensure that everyone traveling to Colorado for an abortion has a reliable ride to and from their appointment, a safe place to stay, a full stomach, and a trained volunteer abortion doula to help them navigate the experience. We envision a world where all people have the information, resources, and power to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives, where the ability to make decisions about parenting and reproductive health is regarded as a deeply personal human right.

Abortion Support Network

Through the Abortion Support Network (ASN), Colorado Doula Project connects and coordinates free practical support and abortion doula services for individuals seeking abortion in Colorado before, during, and after the procedure.

We tailor our assistance to the needs of each individual client who may need any or all of the following: rides to and from the clinic, airport, and/or lodging; a hotel room; funds for meals, gas, and any necessary personal items; and more. Additionally, any client who wants one has a trained abortion doula to help them navigate the experience. Our current population of 125+ volunteers and abortion doulas is managed by the ASN and is the network we draw on for fulfilling requests for rides and emotional support.

Population(s) Served

Colorado Doula Project’s Abortion Doula Training (ADT) is a transformative online course that teaches individuals how to become an abortion doula in their own community. While our on-the-ground work serves clients (who come from across the country) in the state of Colorado, the ADT can be taken anytime, anywhere.

The ADT draws from our years of experience in supporting people through their procedures. It was developed and is delivered by experienced abortion doulas, and features guest speakers who are experts in abortion care, reproductive justice, and gender and sexuality. This self-paced training is applicable for anyone who wants to gain knowledge about reproductive justice and abortion, bolster their own personal development, or gain the skills and expertise to go out into the world as an Abortion Doula, either on their own or with a local organization.

Population(s) Served

CDP's Resource Request Program was devised to provide sexual health supplies to Coloradans discreetly and free-of-cost. Requests come through a form on our website, and our offerings include
emergency contraception, condoms, pregnancy tests, prenatal vitamins, and more. We mail all offered
items directly to requesters through USPS except for our most commonly requested item, Ella—a form
of emergency contraception that we partner with another organization to provide.
