Mission

We believe that all pets deserve life, love and limitless, humane care That's why not only do we assist with the rescue of abandoned, neglected, abused, and unwanted pets in the USA, including those in danger of euthanasia at kill shelters, but we also assist with animals after they have left the shelter, including those with training and vetting needs. In addition we advocate for the rights of homeless animals housed in shelter facilities to receive humane treatment, and enrichment. We believe that every pet deserves a loving home and the best care and opportunities for a healthy, happy life.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Buyadogabed and Buyadogablanket

This program aims to provide homeless pets housed in shelters with the comfort of a bed and blanket, rather than having to lie on a cold, hard concrete floor.

Population(s) Served
Adults

We fundraise to support the small, independent rescue groups, which are the groups on the front lines rescuing animals from the oft poorly run municipal shelters. The high profile animal welfare organizations; PETA, Humane Societies, SPCAs, etc. operate their own shelter facilities, and therefore typically do not rescue animals from the overcrowded municipal shelters. The small independent rescues that do get overwhelmed with the costs of vetting as a majority of the animals leave the municipal shelters sick. We aim to support, collaborate with and unite the small independent rescue groups in order to save and enrich the lives of homeless animals.

Adults

We aim to be the voice for the LA County shelter pets.

We advocate for humane care for the homeless pets housed at the Los Angeles County animal shelters. An example is our campaign to improve the conditions in the shelters; we successfully instigated an investigation commissioned by the LA County Board of Supervisors into the sanitation and conditions within their shelter network, resulting in their 7 shelters "cleaning up their act" (feces filled kennel floors are no more).

Population(s) Served
Adults

We are faced with a national crisis of overcrowded animal shelters, resulting in high levels of euthanasia of pets, particularly within the open admission Government run shelters. We are embarking on a National Shelter Reform Initiative with the aim of uniting and empowering local communities, animal control agencies and officials to effect change, reduce the need for killing and promote more humane care for pets whilst in the custody of shelters. Our online interactive web portal will focus special attention on curbing the source of shelter overpopulation/intake and greatly improving shelter operations; replacing one-shelter-at-a-time reform with broad, coordinated, and simultaneous reform supported by animal advocates in local communities all across the U.S.; providing forums, topics and discussion threads for broad two-way exchange of ideas and experiences (with optional anonymity); and, to build a searchable repository of information, shelter "best practices” and methods to successfully drive change. Together, we will stand up for the animals.

Stand Up for Animals is a joint initiative between Stand Up For Dogs and All About the Animals

Population(s) Served
Activists

We intend to commence work on a project to produce and publish a Public Service Announcement with the message; "Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die". We intend to involve celebrities / influencers in the filming of the PSA. The message will be brought to life with an enactment of a dog being surrendered to a So Cal shelter, with a voice over artist voicing the animal's thoughts while in the custody of the shelter; expressing loneliness, confusion etc. The story will have a happy ending when the dog is adopted by a new family. A secondary message is to promote volunteering at local shelters, and the dog will express gratitude towards the shelter volunteer that takes him for walks.

The PSA will be initially shown within California via digital and traditional media.
