Bakersfield Marathon

Active Bakersfield Alliance began in 2014 when its two founders determined time was overdue our city enjoyed a dedicated marathon celebrating all things Bakersfield. We quickly deemed the race to be launched as a world-class event, a Boston-qualifying race, with all the best amenities of top global races.

Looking back over all the years, we found our 12,000 finishers represent hundreds of cities spread over more than 30 states and a dozen countries all of whom were able to witness our unique local architecture, landmarks and historic neighborhoods as they ran the streets of Bakersfield.

This marathon started in the minds of just 2 people, but over time grew to be in the minds of a dozen, then hundreds, and eventually into the thousands. This event now acts as a canvas a tapestry created by all who choose to participate. Its in this spirit of community and shared experience that makes The Bakersfield Marathon a truly joyous opportunity for all who welcome the call.
