Knowledge of Careers Inc

The KOC strategy begins freshmen year, when students are connected to local professionals from a wide range of career fields and employment levels who give presentations about their professions, the paths they took to get into their careers, and the academic skills they regularly use in their professional lives. In their second year of high school, outstanding students in the KOC program will develop into KOC Ambassadors, and be trained to manage the incoming freshman KOC class below them. Ambassadors will be exposed to a KOC-designed curriculum on professional practices that will give them the tools they need to successfully network with speakers and thrive in the internships that result. Internships will begin after sophomore year and continue through senior year. In addition to helping students explore career opportunities and build leadership skills, KOC works with the college counseling programs of our partner high schools to bolster student support and provide a multifaceted approach to choosing the right college, based on each student’s academic and professional aspirations.
