Programs and results
What we aim to solve
MHAAs Family Peer and Recovery Program aims to fill an existing gap in services for both families of loved ones with a SUD and those individuals seeking recovery support services; by collaborating with other community business partners, agencies, and local health departments. This project will enable us to offer support services and be all inclusive of families with a loved one in active addiction, those who have lost a loved one due to SUD and those with a loved one incarcerated as a result of addiction. The program will offer increased support and education to help them understand addiction, develop healthy boundaries, and rebuild relationships. An unmet need of providing comprehensive support and resources to individuals who are living with addiction will be accomplished by this project; offering a range of services aimed at helping them maintain recovery by removing barriers such as needed transportation, basic supplies and referral services.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our Mission
Awareness
Awareness activities are evidenced through several billboards located in counties which promote the Good Samaritan Law, Narcan/Naloxone administration, and the dangers of opioid use. We also use the social media which consists of our Facebook and website along with performing medial interviews.
Prevention
Education is conducted by our members who speak and educate school administrators, students, and staff on a regular basis. Many of our members attend state and federal level policy workshops and meetings to give feedback, to address improvement in the current system fragmentation that is not conducive to the opioid epidemic. We testify at legislative hearings and educate legislators.
Family Peer Support
Family peer support services which includes treatment navigation, grief counseling, active use support program referrals, and safe places to share without shame. Assisting in helping families navigate insurance options and filing complaints. Visit Save Our Children page for more information.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Fundraising and grant awards help fund our efforts to support those seeking recovery from substances and co-occurring disorders.
We help fund initial recovery home payments.
We provide transportation services to and from treatment and recovery supports.
We often help lessen the financial burden of MVA fees after someone is released from incarceration or extended treatment, therefore enabling them to have access to their own transportation to support working in the community.
We help with dental fees as many in recovery have extensive dental needs that are often unattended due to the cost of extensive dental work.
