Mission

The Maggie Society Rescue, Rehabilitation and Education is a 501c3 nonprofit organization in eastern North Carolina, located in Wilson county but serving nearby areas. Our organization is dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, and abandoned dogs. We are a foster-based rescue and can only intake when we have volunteer foster homes available. We work with owner-surrendered dogs and puppies and offer to cover the cost of spaying and neutering when taking in a full litter. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted animals in our shelters and in our community through education and spay and neuter. Additionally, we pull from area shelters and network with other rescue groups.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

The Maggie Society Canine Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Education

We are a foster-based, volunteer dog rescue organization. We provide dogs and pups with loving temporary homes where they learn basic house manners and how to be an integrated part of the family. Our dedicated volunteers work to find well-matched, carefully screened homes, while other volunteers help with transports that send our dogs to their forever homes with our northern partner rescue groups. We also serve as a resource for our community and pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter and other essential vetting, positive behavior training, good nutrition and how dog owners can provide a quality life and maintain good mental and emotional health as well as physical health.
