Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley (AHTV) commits to affecting access to health care in East Kern County. Access to services, as well as health education and health promotion, are foundational requirements of AHTV that apply to a wide range of health challenges, including the incidence of chronic disease.

Family Practice Clinics
Family practice clinics owned and operated by Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley provide high-quality, convenient health care treatments and diagnostics with an emphasis on wellness and family medicine.
Services include general family practice, pediatric care, minor emergency treatment, sports physicals, X-ray and laboratory services (through the hospital). We accept Medicare, Medi-Cal, Kern Family, and most PPO insurance plans.

Adventist Health Medical Center Tehachapi (dba Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley aka AHTV) sees more than 35,000 people each year.
The East Kern area is served by the AHTV 20-acre campus which includes a state-of-the art 25-bed critical access hospital which includes gastrointestinal lab rooms, general operating rooms, a high-level-care unit, and a four-bed ICU. Approximately 17,500 patients are served each year through its emergency room and nearly 1,000 patients are admitted. The hospital is staffed by 273 associates and 171 physicians. The site provides x-ray and imaging services (mammography and CT scans), physical therapy, respiratory services, and a certified laboratory providing more than 60,000 laboratory procedures each year.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
AHTV strives to decrease chronic disease rates in our communities by offering educational programs, screenings and other interventions.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Adventist Health, in partnership with Adventist Health Bakersfield, will provide free or low-cost clinics that empower and equip community members to eliminate risk factors that can lead to such diseases.
By utilizing a specially-equipped recreational vehicle, the immunizations team provides free immunizations to uninsured children throughout Kern County. The clinics are publicized through the hospital’s website and multiple media outlets. Since the program was established, more than 100,000 free immunizations have been provided to the children of Kern County.
The Adventist Health Bakersfield’s affiliated hospital existing Children’s Mobile Immunization program is working to save lives, as well as saving our community more than $5 million annually according to a recently released report prepared by the Applied Research Center at California State University, Bakersfield.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Children's Mobile Immunization Program provides free childhood immunizations to 50-100 uninsured or under-insured children in the
Tehachapi Valley area by incorporating the existing Children’s Mobile Immunization Program started by a sister hospital to Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley, Adventist Health Bakersfield.
