Notes from the nonprofit

As former “Boat People” refugees from the Vietnam war, in everything we do, we believe in 2nd chance. We believe in giving differently. The way we give 2nd chance is by providing education to underserved children, creating jobs for forgotten parents, and empowering ownership to villagers. We just happen to build 100 schools. Want to help us build a school and leave a legacy?

Mission Statement: Provide educational opportunities for poor children of the world by funding classroom constructions, school-related infrastructures, teaching and learning equipment, “need-based” scholarships and basic healthcare needs. Award Compassionate scholarships to needed college students in America and abroad.
Strategy: Foster collaborations and participations among all active stakeholders –
• Local government to provide free land and local resources
• Local enterprises to provide funding through their Corporate Social Responsibility budget
• In-country and overseas philanthropists, who value education as a solution to eradicate poverty and social inequality, to provide donations through educational and healthy-lifestyle fund-raising activities
• Leadership Foundation Academy and its graduates, who embrace the “Passion Meets Compassion” leadership development philosophy, to donate teaching proceeds and social-entrepreneurial resources for the mission.
• 50%-50% cost share

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

Underprivileged children around the world, especially poor kids in remote, rural regions of Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Kenya, Laos, and India.

  • How is your organization collecting feedback from the people you serve?

Electronic surveys (by email, tablet, etc.), Focus groups or interviews (by phone or in person),

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To identify bright spots and enhance positive service experiences, To make fundamental changes to our programs and/or operations, To inform the development of new programs/projects, To strengthen relationships with the people we serve, To understand people's needs and how we can help them achieve their goals,

Now, we have a Project Manager who provides more PCs to needed schools, orphanages, community centers where 10-20 kids share a mobile phone to learn online.

  • With whom is the organization sharing feedback?

The people we serve, Our staff, Our board, Our funders, Our community partners,

  • How has asking for feedback from the people you serve changed your relationship?

More donors funded our PC drive at $500 per PC.

  • Which of the following feedback practices does your organization routinely carry out?

We collect feedback from the people we serve at least annually, We take steps to get feedback from marginalized or under-represented people, We engage the people who provide feedback in looking for ways we can improve in response,
