Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Help our nations Heroes gain more independence, peace of mind and improved quality of life by teaming them with specially trained dogs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our team of dedicated volunteers works primarily with shelter dogs to help both ends of the leash. Our training program include recipients, inmates and volunteer trainers. We serve as a model for minimizing operational costs and reducing wait times in providing support dogs that are uniquely trained to meet the psychological challenges of eligible veterans and first responders.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
In just 5 years we have grown our volunteer base to approx 150, we have sought and received corporate sponsorships as well as support from veteran service organizations and individuals. With no paid staff, the over head is minimal so each dollar can go specifically to help a Hero find their dog.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As of December 2021 we have placed over 138 dogs with local veterans and/or first responders and we have built a solid foundation on which to grow. Our training facilities are modest, but the dog and people have all they need for general comfort and safety.
